Beyond Festival is about everyday people working together to create a fairer, more compassionate and loving Australia. All persons at the festival are respected – artists, speakers, performers, staff, volunteers and festival attendees. All are worthy of love and respect.
Recent media attention around gendered violence has highlighted our need to be vigilant for one another. Safety is our highest priority at our event and any unwanted advances or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated and all necessary steps will be taken to ensure the safety, security and enjoyment of festival attendees.
At Beyond Festival, we are committed to providing a welcoming and safe environment for everyone regardless of race, gender, tradition, religion, sexual orientation, disability or age.
Beyond is a justice festival, and as such we the Festival Steering Team are committed to providing a creative and safe environment, in which all participants can enjoy an event in an atmosphere of celebration.
Beyond Festival is built on the principles of love, respect and mutuality, and these are freely offered to all participants, without enabling destructive behaviours and attitudes.
Having a ‘Safe Space’ environment at our event means that each and every guest should feel welcome to participate in activities, services or events free of physical violence, threats, intimidation, ridicule, harassment and unwanted advances.
If a participant engages in any of the above behaviours, staff members or security may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event and the informing of police.
We take all feedback seriously. If you have been physically assaulted, intimidated, harassed, or made to feel uncomfortable at our event, please inform event security and/or staff immediately.
